Senate Dems stand firm, set the record straight

Yesterday’s press conference held by Gov. Walker and the Fitzgeralds (Assembly Speaker Jeff and Senate Majority Leader Scott) had a thesis; the missing Senate Democrats would like to come back, if not for their mean ol’ boss, Minority Leader Mark Miller. Using the recent letter from Miller (which extends an offer to “meet, in-person, as soon as possible to resume discussions on how we can reach a bipartisan solution to our differences”) as a rhetorical springboard, Walker, Fitgerald and Fitzgerald cast Miller as holding back the “reasonable and responsible” Democrats who prefer to return, and presumably allow Walker & company free rein to strip basic collective bargaining rights.

Unfortunately for the Governor, these Senators are quite capable of speaking for themselves. Via, here is a list of links to statements to the contrary, already in circulation from 11 of the Senate Dems in question – all calling for Walker to compromise:

Senator Bob Jauch

Senator Chris Larson

Senator David Hansen

Senator Fred Risser

Senator Jon Erpenbach

Senator Julie Lassa

Senator Kathleen Vinehout

Senator Lena Taylor

Senator Mark Miller

Senator Spencer Coggs

Senator Tim Carpenter
