Walker's allies acknowledge they're losing the fight

It’s hard not to look at the incredible ideological overreach underway on the part of Scott Walker and his allies and wonder if there isn’t a pathological detachment from reality in play. What, exactly, did they think was going to be the result of their assault on the basic rights of working Wisconsinites? Did they think people were just going to mope around and take it?

Well, if they were in denial when they started this, it sounds as though reality is forcing it’s way through to their consciousness now, with the recall efforts proceeding ahead with astonishing speed. Here’s what Sam Stein of the Huffington Post had to say yesterday:

Both national and Wisconsin-based Republican operatives tell the Huffington Post the party is being dramatically outworked and out-organized by Democrats in the recall campaigns being launched against state Senators.

[…] “I think that the governor really did wake a sleeping giant,” said Justin Ruben, Executive Director of MoveOn.org. “People feel that what happened was not just a horrible attack but the courage of regular people standing up and getting in the way. That was what electrified folks. It was the first time we had seen anything like that.”
