As many as 40,000 Wisconsinites from all corners of the state gathered in Madison last weekend and showed the world that–as program emcee Phil Neuenfeldt said–we never left.
Tens of thousands came together to celebrate solidarity, democracy, and a common cause–to stand up for our Wisconsin, and recall Scott Walker. Farmers and police officers, welders and teachers, firefighters and artists, grandmas and toddlers… the Recall Walker Kick Off Rally was a poignant reminder that the face of our movement is also the face of our Wisconsin.
And in keeping with the Wisconsin way, the event was not only peaceful but also altruistic–over 2.5 tons of food were collected in the Can Walker Food Drive. Our donations will provide over 3,800 meals to Wisconsin families in need.
In five days, we’ve collected over 105,000 signatures to recall Walker. We’ve come so far since Walker announced his attack on Wisconsin workers, and on the Wisconsin way. We never left. We will continue to stand up for our Wisconsin.
Thank you to the tens of thousands of people that stood in solidarity on the Capitol steps. You made your voices heard loud and clear. Lastly, thank you to the hundreds of you that volunteered your time to make this event such a success.
